About Dr. Phillips, D.C.
Dr. Phillips is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College of California, in Moraga and received his Doctoral degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California. Dr. Phillips began pursuing his career as a health care provider by becoming involved in the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training program at Saint Mary’s College, where he worked very closely with the team physicians to evaluate and treat the injuries of athletes and students. He was also a member of the Varsity Crew (rowing) team for four years. He served on the Substance Abuse Committee. As part of this committee his responsibilities included establishing guidelines, procedures and policies for the college community to follow regarding the use and abuse of illegal and/or addictive substances.
Upon graduation from college he became certified as an Athletic Trainer (A.T.,C.) and began working full-time as a member of the medical staff for the professional football team, The Oakland Invaders of the U.S.F.L. Following the dispansion of the football league, Rick entered the Master Program in Human Performance/Sports Medicine at San Jose State University. He served as a intern in the sports medicine program and worked closely with a group of physicians from Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Gatos.

In the fall of 1986, Rick began work in a physical therapy/sports medicine clinic in Walnut Creek. Besides providing patient care in the clinic, he also served as the Head Athletic Trainer at De La Salle High School in Concord. He supervised all athletic events as well as provided injury care and rehabilitation. He also served as a part time teacher in the Biology Dept. During this time period, Rick also was an Athletic Trainer for the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks, a professional soccer team. Recently, Dr. Phillips served as the Chiropractic Team physician for the San Jose Earthquakes and CyberRays professional soccer teams.

Upon graduation from Palmer West, in 1995 Dr. Phillips received the Student Fellow and Clinical Excellency Awards. He successfully served his community, in his private family practice "Family Chiropractic Care," and local sports teams until his retirement in 2022 when he moved full-time to the central coast. He is excited to continue his career and bring Family Chiropractic Care to serve patients in the North County and beyond.
